Building the Mariwell Brand

Challenge

Build Mariwell into a standout brand, increasing brand awareness and thought-leadership opportunities.

Solutions

Develop the brand profile to establish and differentiate Mariwell from other Cannabis growers and deploy targeted media relations.

Results

Launched and established Mariwell as a recognizable grower with industry opportunities within 3 months, featured in over a dozen reputable publications.

Challenge

Capitalizing on the rich natural elements native to their Wheatley location and using proven growing techniques, Ontario-based licensed cannabis producer Mariwell is dedicated to growing quality strains for both the medical and recreational markets. Mariwell has been in the growing business since 2014 but following a change of ownership and management in Fall 2019, Mariwell tasked Marigold to help rebuild their brand and increase awareness to drive sales and partnership opportunities.

Solution

Our strategic approach was to refresh and redevelop the brand profile and identity by redefining their key messages, developing strategies to differentiate them from competing licensed producers, and positioning the new Chair of the Board Theresa Robert as a strong spokesperson for the brand. These strategies made sure to align the brand’s values through consistent messaging across channels. Over 100 media contracts in Canadian wellness and lifestyle markets were sourced and over 50 custom pitches were made to the Canadian B2B and B2C media.

Results

Our approach empowered Mariwell to connect with potential partners, opportunities and widen its professional network. Within 3 months, Mariwell re-launched as an established grower based on core values of sustainability, quality and natural growing practices. Mariwell’s re-brand also led to panel speaker opportunities at Grower’s Day and the Womxn, Wellness & Cannabis Conference as well as significant media coverage in targeted publications and platforms like the Alpha Woman Podcast, O’Cannabiz, Cannabis Prospect Magazine, MMJ Daily and the Sarnia Observer.
